Thinking of You + a WINNER!

Hello, hello, and a huge hello! I'm here on this bright and sunny and--dare I say spring-like?--Thursday to share a card and the winner of my washi tape and baker's twine giveaway from my April Ways With Washi!

First, I'd like to introduce you to today's card:

Diecuts are by K & Co. (thanks to my sweet friend Jessi!), and the stamps (Decorative Butterflies stamp set and Thinking of You Script cling stamp), brown/white dots washi tape, and baker's twine are all from DeNami Design

It's been a strange and emotional couple of weeks around the Boston area with the Marathon bombings and aftermath, followed by the tense manhunt at the end of the week. Many thanks to my sweet blogging friends who emailed me directly to check up on our status. Your concern touched me deeply! We quite thankfully were safe throughout. And aside from being glued to various media outlets for developments (which sucks up sooooooooooooo much of one's time and energy), we were largely unaffected, except for the day of Friday's manhunt. My husband, who works in one of the communities that was told to "shelter in place," headed out for work completely unaware of the overnight developments. He ended up turning around to come home again (all before sunrise!) once he heard the news on the radio. He wound up working remotely from home that day. Luckily, the kids were already home with me because of their spring break last week. It was good to be all together as events unfolded.

Anyway, now that things are starting to get back to normal, I'm just now hearing the stories of how some of our friends and acquaintances were affected. It's time to mail out cards! Having not nearly enough "thinking of you" cards in my arsenal, that has been my task this week. I made this particular card for a friend whom I've just learned had a harrowing Marathon Monday. I just want to let her know that she and her family are on my heart. More such cards are being added to my stash daily.

OK, now let's move on to finding a winner!

I used Random.org to draw a winner from all the comments left on my giveaway post and came up with lucky number . . .

. . . 42--and that was SHartl!!

Congratulations! I'm off to email you next so I can get your new goodies mailed out to you. :)

A huge thanks to everyone who played along in my giveaway! I always love reading your comments. You warm my heart!!!!

I hope you'll plan to tune in for another Ways With Washi feature in May--I'll be posting on Memorial Day. :) We'll definitely have another giveaway then!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
Emily

Emily, I'm so glad you and your family could go through this together and not be separated. That would have been terrible. What a tragedy for everyone.

Your card is so beautiful with those pretty flower diecuts and stamped butterflies. I'm sure it will be appreciated.

Congrats to the winner, SHartl.

Okay let me say I feel REALLY bad for not emailing you ~ good grief. But I also want you to know that you WERE in my thoughts throughout all of this. Actually you were the FIRST person that came to mind. I wasn't sure how close you were to the specific towns and prayed you were at a distance and NOT at the marathon that awful day. I'm SO happy to know that your family was all nestled in safe at home together. That must have been a great comfort to you. Such a tragic happening. I continue to keep all of those affected in my prayers.

This stunning card is sure to lift someone's spirits Emily. I just love the way you use Washi!! Need to pick up some of the brown polka dot ~ it's sweet. This new butterfly set is the best isn't it. And I love the way you have them fluttering about those pretty blooms.

Have a blessed day my friend, glad to know it's a sunny spring one for you. You know this might just go down as the longest comment in history LOL!!! But hey...you are WORTH it girl ;)

Emily, I have been thinking of you too and I am glad your family is safe. And thank you for letting us know!! Sometimes I wonder if I should email or not so I really appreciate the update. Your card is absolutely beautiful and I love the twine over the washi tape. It is a lovely layout.

What a gorgeous card Emily!! It sure will put a smile on someone's face!! Also glad to hear your family was all together on that Friday. And SO glad to hear they got the creeps(using my nice words here) that did this. And such a young age they are, that's just horrible. Hope all of your friends are well that experienced this.

I'm so glad that all of you could stay together - it would have been extremely difficult to send the kids off to school afterwards, I imagine. I didn't realize you were that close to Boston that your husband works nearby (why yes, I suck at geography, why do you ask? lol). Huge hugs to all of you.
You ROCKED those die-cuts - they go so well with brown! I think I still have some of those suckers kicking around somewhere under the chaos on my desk...

Oh Emily, I didn't think of you living any where near the troubles in Boston. I am so glad you and your family are all safe but it must have been so terrible and stressful never the less. So much sad news the last couple weeks.

Your card is beautiful. I am such a fan of K&Co papers and trims. I love how you tucked the little butterflies in around the blossom.

Take care and hope you have a great weekend! :)

Sweet Emily, it's so good to hear that you and your family were safe and together. I'm way out here in California and I was glued, so I can't even image the horror you must have been experiencing having that terror in your own backyard, so to speak.

Your card is fantastic, and so perfect for your friend. Don't K&Co make the most stunning embellies and die cuts?! You have showcased them to perfection!! Mwah! Darnell

Your card is just stunning, Emily! I know it will be so appreciated by your friend. Horrible time--so glad your family was safe. My sis & her hubby were sight-seeing the day before to avoid the crowds on Marathon Day--first time to Mass.--only there because he had a work training to attend. You just never know what might happen--such a poignant reminder that we can't put things off like letting loved ones know they are loved.

Oh my your card is gorgeous! The colors are perfect together!

So glad all is ok! My in-laws live on the South Shore and all commute in to Boston. My sister-in-law got told to stay home which was the first time that has happened in the 30 years she worked at MGH! My father-in-law had no idea and headed out to work and then was stuck at the office. It was a very uneasy time. So sad!
